Kahoot pricing in 2026: every plan and player limit, explained

Kahoot sells more than 20 paid plans across teachers, families, schools and businesses, and the player limit changes with every tier. This guide lists current prices and caps (checked October 18, 2026), explains what the free plan includes, and shows what a live game actually costs at different group sizes.

Is Kahoot free?

Yes, with limits. The free plan — renamed from Kahoot! Basic to Kahoot! Go in spring 2026 — lets you host live games and assign self-paced kahoots with quiz and true/false questions (up to 4 answers), images, the ready-made library and a team mode for up to 3 teams.

The player cap depends on the account type: 40 players per game for K-12 teacher accounts and 10 for personal, student and higher-education accounts. Free work accounts get Kahoot! 360 Express instead, limited to 15 participants and 15-minute sessions.

AI tools, polls, puzzles, type answer, word clouds, sliders, 5–6 answer options, private kahoots and full reports all need a paid plan. Kahoot shows no third-party ads, but upgrade prompts appear when you reach a paid feature.

How Kahoot's prices and limits have changed

In mid-2024 Kahoot renamed its teacher plans from Start, Premier and Max to Bronze, Silver and Gold and halved the player caps at the same price points: the $48/year tier dropped from 100 to 50 players and the $96/year tier from 200 to 100.

On October 22, 2025, Kahoot launched new “universal” plans (Bronze $36, Silver $84, Gold $144 and Kahoot! One $228 per year) and moved older subscriptions to legacy plans. In 2026 the free plan was renamed Kahoot! Go, Kahoot! 360 moved to its own website, and the 2,000-player Pro Max work plan rose from $59 to $79 per month between April and October.

A simpler option: Quizzo at $9/month

Quizzo is a live quiz game with one plan: $9 per month, billed monthly, for up to 500 players per game, with every feature included. Players join at playquizzo.com/join with a PIN or QR code, and every phone shows the full question and answers.

It isn't a full Kahoot replacement — Quizzo only has multiple-choice questions and no AI, homework mode or ready-made library. But if you run live quizzes for big groups, or simply want to pay month to month, it costs a fraction of the equivalent Kahoot plan.
