A Kahoot alternative for business training, onboarding and all-hands

Quizzo turns onboarding sessions, training refreshers and all-hands meetings into a live game show, with questions on every phone, speed scoring and a podium at the end. One plan costs $9 a month per host, billed monthly, for up to 500 participants and no annual contract. Here's how that compares with Kahoot! 360, and where Kahoot's work plans still do more.

Where Kahoot gets in the way

  • The free work plan is built for evaluation

Kahoot! 360 Express caps sessions at 15 participants and 15 minutes, with 3 AI generations. That's enough to test the product, not to run an onboarding cohort or a team meeting.

  • A yearly license for every presenter

Kahoot! 360 is sold per presenter and billed annually, from $228 to $948 a year each, excluding VAT. If HR, L&D and two team leads all host quizzes, that's four licenses paid a year up front.

  • Headcount pushes you up the tiers

Pro Start covers 50 participants and Pro Standard ($300/year) covers 200. A 300-person all-hands needs Pro Plus at $468 per presenter per year.

  • Team plans start at 25 seats

Kahoot's Spirit plans cost $20–$25 per license per month with a 25-license minimum, which works out to at least $6,000–$7,500 a year.

  • Prices that move mid-budget

Pro Max went from $59 to $69 to $79 a month between April and October 2026, and Pro Plus has swung between $39 and $49. That makes a training budget hard to plan.

How Quizzo helps

  • Monthly, not yearly

$9 a month per host, cancel anytime. Pay for the onboarding season or the quarter of your all-hands, then stop. Participants never pay.

  • The whole company in one game

Up to 500 participants per game, with no tier jump at 50 or 200 people.

  • Readable in any town hall

Everyone reads the question and answers on their own phone, so the back row and colleagues dialing in from home don't need to see the stage screen.

  • Nothing to install for participants

Employees join in the browser with a 6-digit PIN or a QR code, with no app to install and no participant accounts to set up.

  • A quick read on what landed

The answer chart after each question shows which policy or product fact people missed, and every game's scores are saved to your dashboard.

Quiz ideas to get you started

  • Company 101 for new hires: founding year, offices, product lines and the mission statement, four options each.
  • Who's who: photos of the leadership team or department heads with four names as answers.
  • Phishing or legit?: screenshots of realistic emails with just two answers, ideal for security awareness month.
  • Acronym decoder: 'What does QBR mean here?' and other internal jargon new hires hear in week one.
  • Policy refresher: travel limits, expense deadlines and data-handling rules, such as 'How many days do you have to file expenses?'
  • Product knowledge for sales and support: which plan includes a feature, which customers buy what, what the SLA promises.
  • All-hands recap: five questions on the numbers just presented, such as 'Which region grew fastest this quarter?'
  • Support scenarios: 'A customer asks for a refund on day 40. What do you do?' with four plausible responses.
  • Whose pet is this?: colleagues' pet photos with four names, an easy team-building win.

Running your first game

  1. Create your account, go to “My quizzes” and click “New quiz”; one quiz per training module keeps things tidy.
  2. Write 8–15 questions. Attach screenshots, product shots or org-chart photos as images, and give policy questions 30 seconds.
  3. In the training room or on the town-hall stage, press “Start game” and put the lobby on the main screen: join address, PIN and QR code.
  4. Participants scan the code or open playquizzo.com/join on a phone or laptop, with no installs and no sign-ups.
  5. Press “Start”. Use a manual pace to explain each answer during training, or “Auto-advance” for a five-minute all-hands energizer.
  6. After the podium, open “Games” to review each player's score and correct answers and spot topics that need another session.

Good to know

Quizzo is a live quiz game, not a training platform: there are no courses, certificates, assignments, SSO, LMS integrations, reports or CSV export. Players pick their own nicknames, so results aren't a compliance record tied to employees. For polls, word clouds or moderated Q&A in meetings, Kahoot! 360 or a dedicated polling tool does more.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free version of Kahoot for business?

Yes: Kahoot! 360 Express is free but limited to 15 participants, 15-minute sessions and 3 AI generations, so it's meant for trying the product. Quizzo has no free plan; it costs $9/month for up to 500 participants.

How much does Kahoot cost for a company?

Kahoot! 360 Pro plans cost $19–$79 per presenter per month, billed annually ($228–$948 a year each, excluding VAT), and Spirit team plans need at least 25 licenses. One-off event plans cost $199–$799. Quizzo is $9/month per host, billed monthly.

Can we use Quizzo for employee onboarding?

Yes, for live sessions: run a Company 101 quiz in week one with up to 500 new hires at once. Quizzo doesn't do self-paced courses or completion tracking, so keep anything that must be recorded in your LMS.

Do employees need to install an app or create an account?

No. They open playquizzo.com/join in any browser or scan the QR code, enter a nickname and play.

Is Quizzo good for team building?

Yes. Picture rounds, office trivia and 'whose pet is this?' questions work well, and the leaderboard and podium add friendly competition. There's no team mode, so teams that want to play together can share one device.
