A Kahoot alternative for remote teams on Zoom, Teams and Google Meet

Quizzo works in any Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet call: you share your screen, and players answer on their phones, where the full question and answers appear. A laggy share or a tiny video window doesn't decide the winner. The price is $9/month, billed monthly, and a game holds up to 500 players.

Where Kahoot gets in the way

  • The screen share decides the game

By default, Kahoot shows the question on the shared screen and only colored shapes on players' devices. When the share stutters or freezes, remote players answer blind unless the host has turned on the questions-on-devices setting.

  • Hybrid meetings have two audiences

The room reads the projector while remote colleagues watch a compressed, delayed stream. When points depend on speed and the question appears only on the shared screen, that delay costs the remote half of the team.

  • The free work plan won't fit the weekly call

The free Kahoot! 360 Express plan stops at 15 participants and ends sessions after 15 minutes, so a 20-person team can't all join and a longer quiz gets cut off.

  • Every host needs an annual license

Paid Kahoot! 360 plans are licensed per presenter and charged a year at a time, starting at $228 for 50 participants. If different people run the weekly social, each one needs a license.

How Quizzo helps

  • The question is on every phone

Players see every word of the question and all the answer options on their own device, so a laggy share, a frozen video or a tiny window doesn't matter.

  • Works in any meeting tool

Share a browser tab in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet or Webex. There's nothing to install and nothing to integrate.

  • One link in the chat

Click the QR code in the lobby to copy a direct join link and paste it into the meeting chat, or post playquizzo.com/join with the PIN.

  • Dropouts keep their points

If someone's Wi-Fi drops, they reopen the game and carry on with their score. People who join the call late can still join the quiz.

  • Hybrid on equal terms

In-room and remote colleagues answer on their own phones in the same game, and the question reaches each phone directly rather than through the video stream.

Running your first game

  1. Before the call, build the quiz under “My quizzes” → “New quiz”.
  2. In Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet, share the browser tab or window with Quizzo; switch on computer sound in the share options if you want the music.
  3. Press “Start game”, then post playquizzo.com/join and the PIN in the chat, or click the QR code to copy a direct join link and paste that instead.
  4. Players join on their phone or in a second browser tab and pick a nickname; every question will appear in full on their device.
  5. Press “Start”. “Auto-advance” keeps a brisk pace, while a manual pace leaves room to chat about the answers.
  6. End on the podium while everyone's still on camera; results are saved under “Games”.

Good to know

Quizzo has no Zoom, Teams or Meet app: you run it by sharing your screen, while Kahoot offers apps for Zoom and Microsoft Teams. It's live only, so colleagues in distant time zones can't play later, and there are no polls, word clouds, team or breakout modes. Each player needs a phone or a second browser window.

Frequently asked questions

How do I run a Quizzo quiz on Zoom?

Share your browser tab with the Quizzo lobby, post the join link or PIN in the chat and press Start once everyone's in. Players answer on their phones or in another tab, where they see every question in full.

Can I use Quizzo in Microsoft Teams or Google Meet?

Yes. Quizzo works in any meeting tool that can share a screen. There's no Teams or Meet app; players join in their browser.

Does Kahoot work on Zoom?

Yes. Kahoot has a Zoom app and a Microsoft Teams app, and you can also screen share. Turn on “Show questions & answers on participants' devices” so remote players don't depend on the stream.

Do remote players need two devices?

No, but it helps. They can keep the call on their laptop and play on their phone, or open the game in a second browser tab or window.

What if someone's internet drops mid-game?

They reopen the game and continue with their score kept. Colleagues who join the call late can still join the quiz.

Is there a free Kahoot plan for remote team meetings?

Kahoot! 360 Express is free, but it allows 15 participants and ends sessions after 15 minutes, which suits a trial more than a weekly team call. Quizzo has no free plan: $9/month covers up to 500 players.
