Kahoot player limit: how many people can play on each plan?
A Kahoot game can have anywhere from 10 to 5,000 players, depending on the host's plan and account type. The free plan allows 10 players per game (40 for K-12 teachers), the cheapest paid plan 50, and the largest plans 2,000 to 5,000. Which Kahoot plan do you need for your group?
The cheapest Kahoot plan that fits each group size:
- Up to 10 players: free on any account.
- Up to 40 players: free for K-12 teachers; otherwise Bronze ($36/year, or $9/month on personal accounts).
- Up to 50 players: Bronze; for work, 360 Pro Start ($228/year).
- Up to 100 players: Silver ($84/year or $15/month).
- Up to 200 players: Gold ($144/year or $25/month); for work, 360 Pro Standard ($300/year) or a $199 event plan.
- Up to 800 players: Kahoot! One ($228/year or $35/month); for work, 360 Pro Plus ($468/year) or a $299 event plan.
- Up to 2,000 players: One Max ($420/year), EDU Pro, 360 Pro Max ($948/year) or a $499 event plan.
- Up to 5,000 players: One Ultra (4,000), 360 Pro Ultra or Event Ultra after onboarding, or the district-wide EDU Premium plan.
Why the free limit is 10 or 40
On the free plan the limit depends on the account type you chose at sign-up: K-12 teacher accounts get 40 players per game, while personal, student and higher-education accounts get 10. Free work accounts get Kahoot! 360 Express instead, with 15 participants and 15-minute sessions.
Kahoot's player limits have gone down
In mid-2024 Kahoot renamed its teacher plans from Start, Premier and Max to Bronze, Silver and Gold and halved the player caps at the same prices: the $48/year tier dropped from 100 to 50 players and the $96/year tier from 200 to 100. On October 22, 2025, Kahoot launched the current plans and moved older subscriptions to legacy plans, which keep their old limits.
Quizzo: 500 players per game for $9/month
Quizzo has no player tiers: every account can host up to 500 players per game for $9 a month, billed monthly, with every feature included. It has been load-tested with 300 simultaneous players. Players join at playquizzo.com/join with a PIN or QR code, with no app or account.
Quizzo isn't the right choice for more than 500 players, or if you need question types beyond multiple choice. For a classroom, company event or trivia night, it costs far less than a Kahoot plan of the same size.
