Kahoot vs ClassPoint: a quiz game or quizzes inside PowerPoint?
ClassPoint and Kahoot both get students answering on their devices, so teachers who present with PowerPoint often compare them. ClassPoint brings quizzes, word clouds and drawing activities into the slides you already use, while Kahoot runs a separate, game-show style quiz. This page compares where each one runs, how they gamify, what they cost and how many students they take, as of October 2026.

Kahoot vs ClassPoint: key differences
Inside PowerPoint vs its own screen
ClassPoint, made by Singapore-based Inknoe, works as an add-in inside PowerPoint on Windows, so quizzes sit between your lesson slides next to inking, a whiteboard, a timer and a random name picker; a browser-based presenter for Mac, iPad and Chromebook is new in 2026. Kahoot runs on its own game screen in a browser or the app, and importing your slides needs Silver ($84 a year) or higher.
Class rewards vs game-show scoring
ClassPoint awards stars, levels and badges that build up across lessons and shows leaderboards. Kahoot's scoring lives inside each game: points for correct, fast answers, a leaderboard after every question and a podium at the end.
Response types
ClassPoint collects multiple choice, word cloud, short answer, slide drawing and image upload on the free plan, plus fill-in-the-blanks, audio and video responses on Pro. Kahoot's 13+ types include puzzle, slider, type answer and poll, many of them on paid tiers.
AI on the free plan
ClassPoint's AI quiz generator writes questions from your slide content and is unlimited on every plan, including free. Kahoot's AI generator builds kahoots from a topic, a PDF, a web page or slides, but not on the free Kahoot! Go plan; AI starts with Bronze.
Class size
ClassPoint allows 25 students per class free, 200 on Pro and 500 on the quote-based Premium plan. Kahoot allows 40 players free (K-12 teacher accounts), 50, 100 or 200 on Bronze, Silver and Gold, and 800 on Kahoot! One.
Kahoot vs ClassPoint pricing
As of October 2026, ClassPoint's free Basic plan allows 25 students per class, and Pro costs $8 a month billed annually ($96 a year) for 200 students per class; ClassPoint doesn't accept monthly payments, and Premium (500 students) is priced by quote. Kahoot bills teachers yearly too, at $36 for 50 players (Bronze), $84 for 100 (Silver), $144 for 200 (Gold) and $228 for 800 (Kahoot! One). For classes of up to 100, Kahoot is cheaper; for 101–200 students, ClassPoint Pro ($96) costs less than Kahoot Gold ($144).
Choose Kahoot if…
- you want a full game-show quiz rather than activities inside slides
- you don't build your lessons in PowerPoint
- your groups go beyond 200 players without a custom quote
- you want self-paced assignments for homework
- you'd like to start from a huge library of ready-made kahoots
Choose ClassPoint if…
- you teach from PowerPoint and want interactivity without leaving your slides
- you want drawing, audio, video and image responses from students
- you want an unlimited AI quiz generator on a free plan
- you like class rewards — stars, levels and badges — that last all term
- you teach 101–200 students and want to pay $96 a year
Or pick Quizzo if…
- you run live, game-show style quizzes and want one simple price: $9/month, billed monthly
- your groups are big — up to 500 players per game
- players should be able to read every question on their own phone (large rooms, hybrid and video calls)
- you don't need homework, self-paced or presentation features
Our verdict
If your lessons live in PowerPoint, ClassPoint is the natural pick: it adds quizzes, drawing and rewards to the slides you already have, with free unlimited AI and a $96 Pro plan. If you want the game itself — speed scoring, music, a podium — plus homework assignments and rooms of up to 800, Kahoot is the stronger tool, and it's cheaper for classes of up to 100. For browser-based live games with up to 500 players and month-to-month billing, Quizzo ($9/month) is a third option.
Kahoot vs ClassPoint: FAQ
Is ClassPoint better than Kahoot?
For teachers who present from PowerPoint, often yes: ClassPoint adds quizzes, word clouds, drawing and rewards directly to your slides. For a standalone, competitive quiz game with more question types and bigger rooms, Kahoot is stronger.
Does ClassPoint work on a Mac?
ClassPoint's presenter has historically been a PowerPoint add-in for Windows, and Mac users relied on workarounds such as Parallels. In 2026 ClassPoint lists a new browser-based Presenter web app for Mac, iPad and Chromebook, and Google Slides support is in development.
Is ClassPoint free?
Yes. The free Basic plan allows 25 students per class, 3 saved classes and 5 activities per presentation, and includes the AI quiz generator without limits. Pro costs $96 a year and raises the limit to 200 students.
Which is cheaper, Kahoot or ClassPoint?
For up to 100 players, Kahoot: Bronze is $36 a year for 50 and Silver $84 for 100. For 101–200 students, ClassPoint Pro ($96 a year) is cheaper than Kahoot Gold ($144). Neither offers monthly billing on its teacher plans.
Do students need to install anything for ClassPoint or Kahoot?
No. ClassPoint students enter the class code shown on the slide at classpoint.app, and Kahoot players enter a game PIN at kahoot.it or scan a QR code. On ClassPoint, only the presenter installs the PowerPoint add-in.
